Long shorts, sneakers and a T-shirt. In winter months a long T-shirt / long pants are optional.
2. Can I eat ?
Yes, and you should. Bring something to snack on and drink.
3. How long will it take ?
You will watch a video and sign a waiver, meet your instruction and receive a briefing with instruction on aircraft exit and landing. The 14,000+ foot freefall lasts over 60 seconds (ULTIMATE), the Regular freefall is about 20 seconds. Both have a 4-6 minutes of a parachute ride. Depending on how busy we are, expect to stay at the dropzone between 40 minutes to 4 plus hours.
4. Can observers come along to watch from the plane?
Observer rides are at the discretion of the pilot, the cost to ride in the jump plane is $50.00. You wear a parachute and will be given a briefing before boarding the aircraft.
5. Can observers come along to watch from the ground?
You can observe from our shaded deck, located in front of the landing area.
6. If you purchase the pictures and/or video, do you have one photographer assigned solely to you? How do they do both video and still photos?
Yes, only one aerial photographer/videographer can actually jump with you. They wear a helmet that has a digital still camera and video camera mounted. Photos and video are taken simulteanously.
7. If there is transportation, what are the possible pick-up and corresponding return times from Waikiki?
Shuttle vans pick you up in Waikiki three times a day and return approximately 6 hours later. The shuttle is free for those who skydive with us and $30 for guests. We request a credit card security to arrange for your transportation ($30 will be charged only if no show or cancellation within 24h of scheduled jump).
Pick-ups in Waikiki, University and Airport:
- Waikiki 6:45 am to 7:15 am / UH 7:30 am / Airport 7:30 am / Pearl Harbor 7:30 am (returns before 2 pm)
- Waikiki 9:45 am - 10:15 am / UH 10:30 am / Aiport 10:30 am / Pearl Harbor 10:30 am (returns before 5 pm)
- 1 pm (on special request)
Please no food and beverage in the van. Have some breakfast before pick-up.
It is very important you call the day before and 30 minutes before pick-up time: Guy 808-371-0663.
8. Is there a weight requirement?
Yes. Additional charge applies if you are over 200 lbs.
201 lbs - 210 lbs = $10.00 additional. 211 lbs - 220 lbs = $20.00 additional.
221 lbs - 230 lbs = $30.00 additional. 231 lbs - 240 lbs = $40.00 additional.
Weight Limit = 250 lbs.
Contact the office for more information.
9. Is there a time requirement?
For weekend reservations allow yourself to spend the entire day. We encourage jumping on weekdays. Tandem classes last only about 20 minutes. After the class, the time it takes for you to jump has a few variables such as weather, if we are busy that day, and when you signed in. Ideally a tandem jump can be completed in 1 to 3 hours. Please remember though, be prepared to spend the entire day.
10. Is skydiving safe?
Skydiving is like any other extreme sport: there are inherent risks that require careful training and execution. Failure to follow that training can lead to serious injury or death. Skydiving is as safe as the individual(s) make it. The equipment has improved considerably over the old-style round parachute and is so reliable that, when used properly, skydiving can be as safe or safer than any other extreme sport.
11. Can I jump by myself the first time?
No. Your first and second jump must be tandem, in which you're harnessed to the front of an instructor. In case you forget something like pulling the parachute, it is good to have someone there. See our learn to skydive page for more information.
12. What will the skydive feel like?
The sensation of freefall is more like flying than falling, and is intensely exciting and liberating. The canopy flight is peaceful and relaxing.
13. How long does the skydive last?
60 seconds in freefall (ULTIMATE), 20 seconds in freefall (REGULAR) and about 5-7 minutes under canopy.
14. How fast do you fall?
The average human body falls approximately 120 miles per hour.
15. What's the landing like?
Most landings are quite soft, with many people doing stand-up landings. Sometimes, especially on calm days, the forward speed of the parachute will provide you with a smooth sit-down sliding landing.
16. What kind of parachute will we use?
The parachutes used today bear little resemblance to the classic round parachutes of years past. Today, nearly all jumpers use "ram-air" parachutes. These are rectangular in shape and, when open, act like an airplane wing. They are more like gliders than umbrellas. The aerodynamics of the parachute provides it with exceptional maneuverability, allowing the jumper to land almost anywhere he/she wishes. This wing shape is also what makes the tiptoe soft landings possible.
17. What happens if the parachute doesn't open?
Although it is unlikely that your main parachute will fail to open properly, it does sometimes occur and this is a common question. According to federal law, every jumper must be equipped with a main and a reserve parachute. In addition, all equipment have an Automated Activation Device (AAD), which will automatically open the reserve parachute should the jumpers be unable to.
18. Can I bring my own camera with me on the jump?
No, you are much too busy with your skydive to look after your camera. It very easily may get lost or broken and we cannot risk dropping it in freefall or under parachute.
19. Can I get a video or photographs of my jump?
Yes. We operates a freefall cinematography business right here on site. We can provide you with videos that have been edited to music and include a pre-jump interview. They also provide high definition digital stills of your skydive.
20. Can we get one video for our whole group?
No, the time/distance gap between jumpers that exit precludes a camera person from being able to film more than one student at a time.
21. What if I come out and take the class and decide not to jump?
Once you have boarded the plane, the entire amount is non-refundable.
22. What type of payment do you accept?
Visa, MasterCard, Discover, Amex, or Cash (ATM on site). Sorry, NO CHECKS.
23. What about the weather?
Tropical weather is hard to predict, make sure you call before you get here. Leave it to us to decide if the weather is good enough to jump. You can skydive in the rain, but we prefer avoiding less than perfect conditions.
24. Can I breathe in freefall?
Yes, take a deep breath, relax, you will be able to breathe normally. Of course if you open your mouth and look down, it may inflate!
